The work of AWPT falls under specialist committees that meet regularly during the year. Committee membership is open to IPAF members in the relevant category (e.g. manufacturer members of IPAF are entitled to take part in meetings of the Manufacturers' Technical Committee and to receive the minutes).
AWPT Advisory Council
The AWPT Advisory Council advises on all aspects of the training program in North America. This includes developing policy on items such as the correct use of harnesses.
AWPT Working Groups
The AWPT Working Groups focus on specific aspects of the training program: WG1 Theory, WG2 Practical, WG3 Harnesses, WG4 MCWPs, WG5 Loading/Unloading.
Manufacturers’ Technical Committee
This committee concentrates on all technical and safety matters relating to platform design and manufacture. The committee monitors changing legislation and technical standards, disseminates information and lobbies on matters of relevance to manufacturers. Members receive regular updates on changes to legislation in Europe and North America.
Mast Climbing Work Platforms (International) Committee
Mast Climbing Work Platforms (UK & Ireland) Committee
These committees deal with all matters specific to mast climbing work platforms (MCWPs). The focus is on best practice for installation, maintenance, thorough examination and safe use of MCWPs.
Telescopic Handlers Committee
This committee deals with matters relating to the use of telescopic handlers fitted with integrated (smart) baskets used to lift people. It focuses on the safety issues involved and the training programs needed for this category of equipment.
Training Committee
This committee spearheads the IPAF training program, provided through a growing number of approved training centers around the world. Topics covered include course content, training material and training center requirements.
IPAF Rental+ Committee
This committee promotes and regulates the IPAF Rental+ quality mark. The IPAF Rental+ sign is awarded to rental companies who have been audited to meet defined standards in customer service, safety, staff training, contract terms and machine inspection.
Powered Access Interest Group (PAIG)
PAIG is a joint committee of IPAF and the UK-based Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA). It deals with all matters relating to the hire of platforms in the UK.
